Outdoor CCTV and what you can expect at night
An outdoor camera has to cope with rain, dust, and the change from daylight to dark. Night viewing depends on the camera and on the light at that spot. A bright street light can help. A completely dark lane needs a camera suited to low light, and even then the picture is not the same as daytime.
Aim matters at night. A camera pointed at a bright sign or a bare bulb can lose the face you wanted to see. We look at the evening light when the spot needs it, and we use outdoor housings on gates, parking, and outer walls.
Indoor cameras are not a substitute for a gate. If the important view is outside, the camera and the cable route are planned for outside from the start.
Tell us which side of the property is dark and which side has street light. That decides the camera more than a model name does.
