Watching your CCTV cameras on a phone

Many current recorders and cameras can send a live view to a phone app. It depends on the camera, the recorder, and the internet at the property. A system with no network connection will record locally and will not show a remote view.

Mobile viewing needs a stable connection at the site and a login that is not left on a default password. We set up remote viewing when the selected system supports it, and we walk you through the basic controls at handover.

If the picture on the phone is the main reason you want CCTV, say that at the start so the recorder and the network are chosen for it. Playback on the phone is separate from live view. Both depend on the recorder you install.

Wi-Fi cameras suit some homes and small sites. They are not the default for every gate and every shop. A cable is still the steadier choice when the run is practical.
